Health vs. Weight: Where Should Your Focus Be?

In today’s world, the focus on weight is everywhere. We’re bombarded with images of ideal bodies, promises of rapid weight loss, and the latest “magic” diets that claim to shed pounds/kilograms in no time. But here’s the question we should really be asking:

"Should I be focusing on my weight or my health – and which of these will have a greater impact on my long-term quality of life?"

The Misleading Focus on Weight

It’s easy to think that losing weight is the key to feeling better. But what many people don’t realize is that weight loss, by itself, is not necessarily the same as improving your health. You can be at your goal weight and still feel tired, sluggish, and stressed – all signs that your body may not be thriving.

Being lean or having low body fat does not guarantee internal health. Nutrient deficiencies, hidden stressors, and poor lifestyle habits can all lead to health problems, even in someone who looks fit on the outside. On the other hand, some individuals who don’t fit society’s idea of the “ideal weight” may actually have excellent internal health, with strong energy levels, balanced hormones, and good digestion.

The Bigger Picture: Health as a Whole

Focusing on health, rather than just weight, opens the door to long-term benefits. True health comes from nourishing your body with the right foods, moving in ways that strengthen and energise you, managing stress, and taking care of your mental and emotional well-being.

I’ve seen it firsthand in my practice – when people shift their focus to improving their overall health through wholefood nutrition and lifestyle changes, something amazing happens. They not only feel better but often experience natural weight loss as a side effect of giving their body what it truly needs.

Rethink Your Approach to Health

If you’ve been feeling frustrated with yo-yo dieting or confused by conflicting health advice, it’s time to rethink your approach. Rather than chasing after a certain weight, consider focusing on creating habits that support your health – habits that are sustainable and tailored to your body's needs.

Are you ready to stop the cycle of quick fixes and start nourishing your body for long-term wellness? My approach focuses on wholefood nutrition and personalized support to help you achieve lasting health benefits, and yes, even weight loss if that’s a goal. But most importantly, you’ll feel better from the inside out.

Let’s Talk!

If this resonates with you, and you’re ready to take control of your health in a balanced, sustainable way, I’d love to support you on that journey.
